Practices


The DCG Track Club practices Wednesdays from 6:30-7:30 pm and Sundays from 4:00-5:00 pm at the high school track. DCG high school and middle school teams have priority in terms of facilities. Note that 7th grade athletes do not practice or compete with the DCG Track Club until the completion of the middle school track season.

Athletes should arrive with a positive attitude prepared to practice. Athletes should bring a water bottle and wear comfortable workout clothes/running shoes to practices. Track spikes should not be worn to practices.

Athletes are divided based upon event emphasis to provide specific training for sprints, middle distance and long distance. All athletes will have the option to practice jump and throw related field events on Sundays from 5:00-5:30 pm. Please note that separate grade based training groups may be formed depending upon the number of athletes present at practices.

Coaches do not provide instruction for hurdles, triple jump, high jump or javelin.

Coaches continually emphasize effort over result. However, the DCG Track Club is a competitive club and athletes are expected to complete workouts under the direction of a coach independent of parental involvement. Several recreational clubs are available in the area for athletes who would like a less competitive offering.
