Frequently Asked Questions

Where can I find additional information on USATF youth track and field?

The DCG Track Club is a USATF youth club. You can click here for Iowa USATF youth club information or here for national USATF youth club information.

My son or daughter is involved in other activities that conflict with track club practices and meets. Can he or she still participate?

Yes. We feel young athletes should not be forced to specialize and encourage involvement in a variety of activities. However, we recommend regular attendance to ensure athletes receive the maximum benefit from their involvement. Consistent participation allows athletes to experience the fitness benefits associated with running and provides athletes the opportunity to foster relationships with teammates.

What are the responsibilities of parents and athletes on meet days?

Parents are responsible for athlete supervision at all times. Parents are responsible for providing alternative supervision for their child provided a parent cannot attend a meet. Coaches are not responsible for supervision.

Parents are responsible for registration and event check-in and should remain attentive for event calls during meets. Most meets follow a rolling schedule such that coaches will not be able to provide an accurate event start time.

Please review the Meets page for further information.

I would like to be more involved with the track club. How can I help?

We may need additional volunteer coaches depending on the number of athletes that register for the club. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering. We will not know the number of additional volunteers needed until early spring.

Note: USATF requires membership and background checks for all volunteer coaches.

I've reviewed the website and have additional questions. Whom should I contact?

Please email dcgtrackclub@gmail.com. We will attempt to respond within 72 hours.
